General description and function of Degassing-Flux

(In order to increase the mechanical properties of the aluminum alloys, it is necessary to reduce the pinhole porosity arising out of hydrogen presence, as well as increase the nucleation sites for better microstructure. )

Presence of hydrogen in solidification leads to pinhole defect, excessive porosity, lower metal density, and reduced mechanical properties. Degassing fluxes composed of chlorine and fluorine containing salts are used for degassing of aluminum alloy shaped in tablets form.

Degassing products remove hydrogen dissolved in the molten alloy. degassing flux can also remove non-metallic impurities (oxides, carbides, etc.) from the metal, creating a better-finished product.


Advantage of Degassing-Flux

1. Degassing flux release nitrogen gas, which has a very positive effect of removal of hydrogen entrapped during melting operations and for oxides, micro-oxides and impurities reduction

2. Has a combined effect of physical and chemical nature

3. Have different compositions to suitable for Al-Mg alloys with a content of Magnesium above 3% and below 3% as well and suitable for al-mg alloy will not disturb sodium or strontium modification effect.
