Method of Distinguishing the Quality of Anhydrous Magnesium Chloride

Anhydrous magnesium chloride (mgcl2 anhydrous) is mostly produced by the evaporation and purification of seawater, salt lake and salt well water. These resources are abundant and cheap. The magnesium chloride anhydrous melting point should be realized. There are also some anhydrous magnesium chloride is produced by purification of some industrial by-products, such as the by-products of Production titanium sponge production. After purification, Anhydrous magnesium chloride is obtained. The magnesium chloride obtained by this method has high purity and contains less impurity.

As we all know that the magnesium chloride is a water-soluble chemical substance, but impurities in anhydrous magnesium chloride, such as magnesium sulfate, sodium chloride, and potassium chloride (commonly known as salt impurities) do not react with magnesium oxide. There impurities not only reduce the purity of anhydrous magnesium chloride, but more importantly, these impurities have a detrimental effect on the quality of the products produced. The action of these impurities will cause the product to appear "antihalogen" and affect the product quality.

However, the quality of magnesium chloride varies in the market, and the prices of different quality magnesium chlorides vary widely. Buyers cannot identify the quality of magnesium chloride without knowing it. Here we introduce a common and easy method to distinguish the quality of anhydrous magnesium chloride:

Although potassium chloride, sodium chloride, and magnesium sulfate are easily soluble in water, the solubility of these salts in high-concentration magnesium chloride solutions is very small due to the same ion effect of magnesium chloride. When the concentration is high, these salts are hardly dissolved, so you can know how much the white salt precipitates after dissolving in 1: 1 water. The less white insoluble matter, the higher the purity, because the high purity magnesium chloride is very little If white insoluble matter appears, At the same time, we can check the the halogenity (specific gravity) of the brine. The higher the halogenity, the higher the content of magnesium chloride. On the other hand, the magnesium chloride with more impurities has a lower halogenity.
